History of Hungary Part I / From the foundation of the state to 1703 –  Middle Ages

The first half of our historical exhibition presents the history of Hungary from the foundation of the state to the beginning of the 18th century. After the Hungarian Conquest, the most important task was the establishment and organisation of the Hungarian kingdom. The adoption of Christianity secured the country's place among the newly emerging states of Christian Europe. Hungarians have adopted the values of Western culture and combined them with their own Eastern traditions. The history of the Kingdom of Hungary, which flourished between the 11th and the 17th centuries and then fell apart, is presented through significant artefacts. A multitude of objects illustrate how the everyday life of the poorer and richer sections of society evolved over the centuries.
