Micro-Folie Digital Museum

Louvre, d'Orsay, Picasso Museum and many more in the digital collection of the Micro-Folie museum

For those who think that visiting digital exhibitions is not the real thing, they haven't seen the Micro-Folie mobile museum. Institutions such as the Louvre, the Pompidou Centre in Paris and the Picasso Museum have all been involved in the creation of this great French initiative. High-resolution digitised photographs, 3D photos and video recordings of thousands of amazing artefacts have been uploaded to the digital museum and can be viewed by anyone who visits Micro-Folie. The images can be enlarged at will to reveal details that would otherwise be easily hidden.

Cross-in-Fire - Christian Persecution in Zones of Conflicts

Cases from the Middle East and West Africa

Following the venues in Washington, New York, Rome and Munich, the exhibition Cross-in-Fire can be seen at the Hungarian National Museum again with an updated and augmented material.

The exhibition open from 26 June to 12 September 2021, analyses the situation of Christianity in the Middle East and West Africa: explores the causes of persecution, presents the fate of persecuted communities and their members, and draws attention to the importance of on-site assistance.

Due to opposition movements in both Hungary and the surrounding Socialist countries, as well as Gorbachev’s reforms in the USSR, the dictatorship of the Kádár regime had been loosening for decades – and reached its breaking point in 1989, bringing forth extraordinary changes in politics, society and lifestyle.

József Tóth (a.k.a. Füles): Role Models

József Tóth (a.k.a. Füles) is one of the most colourful characters of Hungarian creative and public life. He was born in Budapest on 25 May 1940. He became interested in art during his high school years. Between 1960 and 1965, his caricatures were published by several newspapers. Meanwhile, between 1960-1962, he worked at MTI Foto as a trainee photographer. He regards Gyula Zacsek and József Németh as his masters. During his work on caricatures, he earned and kept a good sense of humour, as well as an eye for the grotesque and a surrealist point of view.

Klára Rotschild - Fashion Queen behind the Iron Curtain

Klára Rotschild embodied fashion, elegance, quality and luxury for decades.  She acquainted Budapest with Paris, and familiarized the world with Budapest. The salon of Klára Rotschild became emblematic in Hungary soon after it was established between the Great Wars. She dressed up aristocrat ladies of the mid-war Horthy-era, and designed clothes for Faruk Egyptian king’s mother, Nazli and her sisters.  She created the wedding dress of István Horthy’s (son of the regent of Hungary) bride for the occasion of the prime wedding of the decade.

450 masterpieces of a millennium, from three highly esteemed private collections are on display at the Steel and Heart exhibition. 1000 years of weaponry in history - this is the title of the temporary exhibition open to the public from 05.12.2019. until 05.03.2020. The unique exposition commences a series of events under the title ‘In Oneness with Nature’ Hunting and Wildlife World Exhibition.
