The temporary exhibition of the Hungarian National Museum entitled Our Common Era '89-90 opened on 28 February 2020, but due to the coronavirus epidemic we had to close it temporarily a few weeks later. This was particularly painful for us, as the Community exhibition is based on the homogeneous material donated by more than fifty donors, and the museum's own collection pieces reflecting on 1989 only complement them. Throughout the year, objects, photographs, posters and documents continued to accumulate in the museum, while we organised dozens of different activities around the Our Time Together project and looked forward to showing the results of our community's efforts in the museum.
The exhibition in the Nobel Hall of the Hungarian National Museum is currently waiting like Sleeping Beauty to reopen as soon as possible. However, we do not want to deprive the donors, lenders and communities supporting the project of the experience of the exhibition we have created together, so we have decided to re-stage it in virtual space, in the Great Hall of the Hungarian National Museum in Esztergom. With this change of venue we also mark that the two exhibitions are not the same, the virtual and the analogue space represent a different kind of experience for the visitor.
Explore our newly opened virtual exhibition and we hope to see you soon within the walls of the Hungarian National Museum!
