Klebelsberg 100

KLEBELSBERG 100 virtual exhibition>

In 2022, Hungary will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the accession to office of Count Kuno Klebelsberg, Minister of Education and Religious Affairs.

Klebelsberg was an outstanding personality of exceptional knowledge, a decisive and prominent figure in the history of post-World War I Hungary.

As Minister, he ensured that his ministry received an increasing share of the Hungarian state budget each year, so that 10% (!) of the 1928/1929 budget year went to the Ministry of Culture.

As a result of his decade-long ministry, Hungarian cultural life began to boom.

As a result of his investments, a number of major projects were carried out, from basic public education to universities. He was convinced that

"the Hungarian homeland...
could be preserved not by the sword but by culture."

Our exhibition presents Klebelsberg's life and ministerial work in headlines.
