The most important part of the more than 60,000 postcards in the Postcard Collection are those featuring political (e.g. war, irredentist), social and cultural historical (e.g. scouting, ethnography) content, and those presenting the settlements of the Carpathian Basin. There is also a significant number of museological images, from Hungary and abroad, mainly of artefacts, arranged by genre. An important part of the collection is the preserved, organised and partly inventoried archive material of the Képzőművészeti Alap Kiadó Válladó Vállalat (1953–1991), the monopolistic postcard publishing company of the socialist era.
