For 90 years after its discovery in the early 1930s, the Roman military camp, long known only from archaeological excavations, was dormant and reclaimed by nature. Only experts and those interested in the local history of Nagytétény knew the wonders of the land. Recently, the public has had the opportunity to visit this Roman fortress with its spectacular ruins and fascinating history. In 2022, the Hungarian National Museum aims to develop the long-neglected monument for tourism by creating an archaeological exhibition site and visitor centre. This will also enable archaeological research to be resumed on the site. By developing the exhibition site, the ruins of the Roman fortress could become a popular cultural and tourist destination in the future.
