Near one of the corner towers of the Roman fortress, near the entrance to the visitor centre, there is a playground for families with small children. The experience is inspired by the architecture of Roman military camps and the ancient people's love of horses. The main attraction of the playground, set in a large sandpit under shady trees, is the Roman camp area, reminiscent of towers and fortress walls, with built-in games of skill and balance, and climbing frames. The youngest children can imagine the busy life of Roman soldiers by hopping on spring horses.
